SPEAK exists to help raise awareness about the critical issues and lingering needs within our communities facing children and youth, women and their families and the poor through the use of technology, multi-media tools, activities, events and programs. The goal is to produce positive change in the lives of those whose voices are not being heard and needs are not being met.
The foundation and inspiration for SPEAK come from the Bible, especially the following verses:
"He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing." Deut. 10:18
"But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless." Psalm 10:14
"A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling." Psalm 68:5
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV)
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27
Statement of Faith:
•We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
•We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
•We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
•We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration of the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
•We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
•We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
•We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
